Zimbabwe in Crisis!
Thursday, February 26, 2009 9:44 PM

Hi,

I just signed ONE's petition calling on the African Union to keep its promise to the new unity government of Zimbabwe and I hope you will too:

http://www.one.org/zimbabweandtheau

The consequences of years of poor governance in Zimbabwe are poverty and disease on a tragic scale demanding a global response. Public hospitals have been without running water for months, creating a petri dish for easily preventable killers such as cholera. More than 3,000 people have died in Africa's worst cholera epidemic in 19 years. Schools have been shut down because teachers can't be paid. The agricultural sector has collapsed, half the population requires emergency food aid, and humanitarian aid groups are struggling to keep up.

Now Zimbabwe has a new unity government, but in order for it to have any chance to tackle these problems, it is going to need the African Union to do everything in its power as guarantor of the new government.

Add your name to the petition and show the African Union that the world is watching what it does in Zimbabwe:

619 tears
Tuesday, February 24, 2009 8:25 PM

I was prepared for it but when the news came I was nothing but sad. Should people be prepared for sadness?

I was not sure where the buckets of tears came from but as soon as it came, it did not stop. I kept on tearing up and when I saw nyai crying and have to be held by someone, the tears srart to stream down extremely fast.

He was a respected man; respected by many and loved by his family. I vaguely remember times when I was younger and my cousin and I will be playing at the void deck while he works on his carpentry in the back ground. He hollered for us to stop running, gaving us a warning that we might fall down. But we were kids, we didn't care.

As prayers were read and people who loved him gave him their last respect, I took my chance to plant one last kiss on his cheek.

Goodbye Yod Lanang, may Allah put you in a higher place with the people who had been loyal to Him. Al-Fatehah.

True Colours
Sunday, February 22, 2009 11:24 PM

I have to start believing in myself more than anypne else.

The girls and I had a day out yesterday. We had lunch at Pastamania and headed to Minds Cafe after. We played a game called 'True Colours'...a game where if you looked on the positive side gives you an opportunity to know more about your friends and yourself..or maybe more towards what your friends think about you.

For instance I found out that my friends could depend on me if a life-threatening situation occurs and they believe that I could make a good sales person/director. The latter has always been a little hard for me to beleive in. I have never believed myself to be someone who could sell so the girls told me that I should trust in myself more than everyone else does.

Well myabe I should...i'll gradually will. I need some time to discover myself.

Have I lost weight???
Monday, February 16, 2009 11:28 PM

That's the real question. After three weeks of exercising and eating right/less, I'm 1.5kg lighter and my uncle who visited on Friday said I looked slimmer...well I dont feel slimmer but I do feel lighter.

1.5kg down, 6.5kg more to go!!!

I have been learning Spanish for quite a while now and I think I should buck up! Like seriously. I've been forgetting words and I shdould practicing making sentences by now!!! Tsk Tsk Tsk!!!

When things get tough
Tuesday, February 10, 2009 11:47 PM

When things get tough, do you push yourself to be stronger or do you crumble under the test of pressure?

It was unexpected and we all didn't see it coming. One of my colleagues got the axe and he have to leave immediately. A teller from the main branch was told to leave on the spot.

Such hard times and such ungraceful-ness. There are no such thing as chances, they are hard to come by. Nothing is safe...everything is at stake.

The very short getaway
Monday, February 09, 2009 11:29 PM

I dunno why but i suddenly had the urge to run away to Sentosa for a while. I was thinking, the sun, the sand and the beach...so that's where Yanping and I end up at yesterday. We met up at 33oPM and made our way to Palawan beach.

Laid out a mat, took out the sandwich and the potato salad that I made and we sat, talk and eat. A simple getaway. Then we walked to Ben & Jerry's as Siloso beach before we head for the Luge ride. The last item in our plan was Song of the Sea which is totally bleh! Nothing was good except the waterworks.

Pictures!!!

All over the world...
Sunday, February 08, 2009 10:39 AM

I've been wanting to do this post for quite a while and I finally have time to upload the pictures and type a few things about it.

Two places in my house that I really love is the shelf in my room and the fridge in the kitchen. These two points holds memories from all over the world.

This one is in my room. It's mostly souvenirs from some parts of the world given to my sister and me from our friends and some are bought by yours sincerely and her sister.

These two globes are my favourite. The one on the left is from Turkey and inside the globe is Hagia Sofia. The one on the right was bought from Dubai Airport while we were on transit. Behind the Turkey globe is an acryllic mug bought fro Dubai. If you see carefully, there is something in the mug and it's a very small ball that Effa bought also from Dubai.

This is the very small bowl that Effa bought when we were at the pottery place in Capadoccia. Very purple. And the handphone chain is from Vietnam given to me from one of my colleagues. The small handheld paper fan was from Effa's friends and it's from Japan.

The glass thingy is from Pulau Redang. It has coloured sands and a fish was painted on the bottle. Look carefully and youll see two Eiffel Tower. It's a keychain, one from our neighbour and one from Effa's friend, given to us when they came back from Paris. The pretty painted dolls on the pin is from Rachel. She mailed it to me when she came back from Poland...Rachel if you are reading this, correct me if I'm wrong. I couldnt remember if it's from Holland, Poland or Scotland. Oops!

This one is very cute. Effa got it from her friend who visited Barcelona and she actually catched a match...a mega match I have to add between Barcelona and Real Madrid and Nou Camp!

This is the most colourful refrigerator I've ever set eyes on. Magnets from all over the world!!!

This is where magnets from Turkey are place. The most below one, the slipper, is from Ephesus, the one on top is also from Ephesus but it's a general Turkey landscape. The white wooden clog is from Holland, given by one of my colleagues when she came back from Europe. On the right hand side of the clog are tile magnets from Turkey, then a magnet from Dubai and below is from Phuket, bought about 3-4 years ago when I visited there with my poly mates.

More Istanbul magnets and the top left hand corner. That's the Blue Mosque. Beside it is from Hong Kong and so is the one below it, from my colleague. The one on the below right hand is from Malacca. My mum was the one who prolly bought it. So is the one beside Dubai.

Ooh...more Turkey magnet. That would be thw white one which I bought in Capadoccia when we visited the Goreme Open Air Museum. The one on the left of it is from London, maybe from my aunt and the one below London is from Vietnam, from my colleague. It's so cute!. Then on the top right hand is a picture of Putrajaya in Malaysia, dunno who it's from and the one below is from Rachel when she went to Poland. It's a statue in Warsaw...am I right Rachel?

Below left hand corner is from Pulau Redang, then you see another one from Dubai. The one on top of Dubai is from Costa Rica which was from my penpal and then one more from Phuket.

Here's three lonesome magnets, from Colmar Tropicale in Malaysia, another magnet from Pulau Redang and the one on top of it is from New Zealand, from my aunt.

So my plan now is to collect more souvenirs and more magnets and fill the shelf and refrigerator with things from all over the world...pass 'em my way people!

what to say
Tuesday, February 03, 2009 11:44 PM

I wonder if my blog is full of complains or reflections...i hope its the latter because sometimes I feel that I keep on complaining and the way for me to just let it out is through this blog that I reluctantly set up back in 05.

I've not been discipline enough in learning Spanish and I've not been practicing and revising. The only thing I can confidently say is:

Hola! Me llamo Fadhilah. Y tu?

I promise to do that when weekend comes.
